Barred Owl

Item DCS1267- Adult Barred Owls are large, stocky owls with rounded heads, no ear tufts, and medium length, rounded tails. Barred Owls are mottled brown and white overall, with dark brown, almost black, eyes. The underparts are mostly marked with vertical brown bars on a white background, while the upper breast is crossed with horizontal brown bars. The wings and tail are barred brown and white. Nikon D810 camera with Nikon 80-400mm lens @550mm. I used a Nikon 1.4 tele-converter in conjunction with the 80-400mm to capture the image. ISO 4000, f8@ 1/320 second shutter speed. Image was captured in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A tripod was also used.
